<br />!'!2 <br />.:1 <br /> <br />JULY 26, 1977 <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />Council unanimously concurred in certain revisions recently made by the Martinsville <br /> <br />- <br /> <br />Volunteer Fire Company to its Constitution & By-Laws, as set forth (in summary) in the <br /> <br />Volunteer Fire Company's letter dated July 21, 1977. <br /> <br />After reviewing, as required by Council's action taken April 22, 1975, the Special-Use <br /> <br />Permit issued on that date to the Exchange Club of Martinsville, permitting said club <br /> <br />to sponsor and conduct annually (during the years 1975 through 1979) the Martinsville- <br /> <br />,..-. <br /> <br />Henry County Fair, Council unanimously renewed said Permit for 1977, noting that the <br /> <br />1977 Fair is scheduled to be conducted at Liberty Heights Fairground August 22nd-27th. <br /> <br />Council continued for further consideration, pending the presentation by the Blue Ridge <br /> <br />Regional Library Board and/or the Library's Director of certain information, the notice <br /> <br />from the Virginia Library Board of stated Federal-State allocations of funds for specified <br /> <br />library expenditures during 1977-78, action on which would constitute an agreement by the <br /> <br />City that such funds may be expended by said Regional Library. <br /> <br />In acknowledging receipt of Federal Anti-Recession Fiscal Assistance funds in the amount <br /> <br />of $50,047.00 for the quarter which began July, 1977, Council continued for further <br /> <br />consideration the allocation of such funds. <br /> <br />Pursuant to a request presented by Mr. Howard J. Beck, Jr., Attorney at Law, and upon <br /> <br />recommendation of City Attorney, and following an explanation by Mr. Beck and City <br /> <br />Attorney Worthy of provisions of current State statutes pertaining to the selling of <br /> <br />real estate on which local real estate taxes are delinquent, Council unanimously employed <br /> <br />Mr. Beck to represent the City and to take action in the name of the City of Martinsville <br /> <br />versus the owners, heirs and/or assigns of the "T. W. Stone" property, consisting of <br />
