<br />12 <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />JUNE 28, 1977 <br /> <br />In tentative acceptance of the Planning Commission's June 24th report and recommendation <br /> <br />on the April 26th request of Lester Properties, seeking the rezoning (from "R-9" to <br /> <br />"P-2") of its property at l08 Fairy Street, Council directed that a duly-advertised <br /> <br />public hearing be conducted by Council on said request, as supplemented by the <br /> <br />Commission, whereby it is proposed that not only 108 Fairy Street but also 110 Fairy <br /> <br />Street, 704 Watt Street, and 706 Watt Street be rezoned from "R-9" to "P-2", with <br /> <br />said public hearing scheduled for Council's forthcoming July 26th meeting. <br /> <br />Although the Planning Commission, by its report dated June 24, 1977, recommended that <br /> <br />property owned by Lanier Farm, Incorporated, and situated at the southeast corner of <br /> <br />Spruce Street and Parkview Avenue, be rezoned from "R-9 Residential" to "C-l <br /> <br />Commercial", as requested by petitioner under date of May lO, 1977, with the <br /> <br />stipulation by the Commission (and agreed to by petitioner) that twelve feet of <br /> <br />right-of-way along the south side of Spruce Street be donated and a strip of land <br /> <br />along the east side of Parkview Avenue, forty feet wide to a depth of two hundred <br /> <br />and fifty feet, be retained as residential zoning for the purpose of screen planting, <br /> <br />Council referred this matter back to the Commission after learning from several <br /> <br />citizens residing on Indian Trail (Dr. David Roycroft, Mr. Jack Jester, and <br /> <br />Mr. Leonard Craig) that their interests had not been represented at the Commission's <br /> <br />June l6th public hearing on this matter. Meanwhile, Councilman West noted that he <br /> <br />would not engage in any discussion of this proposal inasmuch as he owns property in <br /> <br />the area. <br /> <br />Through its Chairman, Mr. George W. Brown, Assistant City Manager-Public Works <br /> <br />Director, the CBD Commission informed the Council that it recommends the implementation <br /> <br />of the Parking Study Report through Council's adoption of amendments to Section lO-8l and <br />
