<br />:30 <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />JANUARY 25, 1977 <br /> <br />and/or adoption of the City's 1977-78 Budget. <br /> <br />Upon motion, duly seconded and unanimously carried, Council adopted the <br /> <br />following ordinance (with "emergency clause" attached) establishing <br /> <br />rules and regulations covering water cross-connections within the <br /> <br />City, noting that such rules and regulations have been mandated by <br /> <br />the Commonwealth of Virginia for the protection of health of the <br /> <br />citizens and, too, directing that the purposes and goals of these <br /> <br />rules and regulations should be adequately publicised: <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Martinsvi11e, <br />Virginia, in regular meeting assembled this twenty-fifth <br />day of January, 1977, that the above-captioned rules <br />and regulations, consisting of (1) a statement of policy <br />entitled, "Policy: Cross-Connection Control"; (2) <br />regulations encompassing Section 6.00 of a manual <br />entitled, "Waterworks Regulations", as adopted by the <br />Virginia Board of Health under date of May 7, 1974 <br />(and as amended), promulgated under Section 62.1-47 <br />of the CODE OF VIRGINIA (1950, and as amended); and <br />(3) additional regulations attached thereto and <br />identified as Article I, Article II, Article III, <br />Article IV, and Article V, with sections and/or <br />subsections thereof numbered respectively, are <br />hereby adopted. <br /> <br />BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED by said Council that, an <br />emergency existing, this ordinance shall be in <br />force on and after January 26, 1977. <br /> <br />Upon recommendation of the CBD Commission, and with the exception <br /> <br />of Councilman Greene's abstention on the motion, Council unanimously <br /> <br />authorized the continuation of the City's current policy of providing <br /> <br />free-parking-on-Saturdays on the City's off-street parking lots. <br />
