<br />~co <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />SEPTEMBER 28, 1976 <br /> <br />In connection with a Federal Flood-Plain Study of the area now being conducted <br /> <br />by Wiley & Wilson, Consulting Engineers, and being apprised of the need of <br /> <br />updating the City's 1958 topographic maps, Council agreed to appropriate in <br /> <br />the City's 1977-78 budget the sum of $10,000.00 which, with presently-encumbered <br /> <br />funds, will provide the net cost of updating said maps through an aerial <br /> <br />photographic mapping procedure. <br /> <br />On behalf of the Martinsvil1e Community Recreation Association (Mr. O. H. <br /> <br />Fitzgerald, President) and the Virginia Recreation & Association, in <br /> <br />recognition of outstanding service and contributions to local recreational <br /> <br />programs, Mayor Fitz-Hugh presented awards to the following: <br /> <br />(1) a group award to the Martinsvi1le-Henry County <br />Junior Deputy League, accepted by Mr. Jack <br />Coleman; <br />(2) a group award to the Martinsvi1le-Henry County <br />Oil Heat Association, accepted by Mr. Wayne <br />McKinney; and <br />(3) an individual award to Mr. Dave Rogers, accepted <br />by Mr. Victor Calaman. <br /> <br />Upon motion, duly seconded and unanimously carried, Council appointed <br /> <br />Vice-Mayor Hobson to membership on the City's Highway Safety Commission, <br /> <br />replacing Councilman Greene, and Councilman Oakes to membership on the CBD <br /> <br />Commission, replacing former Councilman Morton W. Lester. <br /> <br />Upon motion, duly seconded and unanimously carried, and subject to prior <br /> <br />review and approval by the State Department of Highways & Transportation, <br /> <br />Council authorized City Manager Noland to execute contracts with the lowest <br />
