C. Ham Learning Center, Council unanimously

appropriated (upon motion, duly seconded) the additional sum of $2,857.00

to these agencies, distributed pursuant to their May 25th revised requests,

said additional sum to be transferred from the General Fund's Emergency

Account.

Mrs. John L. Manson and Mr. Curtis F. Bouldin, representing the Piedmont

Seniors of Virginia, Inc., appeared before Council and requested that office

space be provided, preferably in City Hall, for a Coordinator-Planner or Senior

Citizens Director the agency expects to employ to implement a program for

Martinsvil1e senior citizens, funds for such a position being already

available for 1976-77 from a total State allocation of some $15,000.00.

These representatives also requested that the person filling this position

be placed under the supervision of the City's Recreation Director. In

approving said requests, Council referred to City Manager Noland the matter

of locating office space for the agency's local director and the coordinating

of the office within the City's administrative staff.

Upon recommendation of City Manager Noland, the City's Fire Chief and the

City's Building Official, Council adopted the following ordinance, effective

August 1, 1976, amending the City's Fire Code by the adding thereto the BOCA

Basic Fire Prevention Code (1975), and as amended:
