(... <br />...l c~' : <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />MAY 111 197&. <br /> <br />/- <br /> <br />Council also ordered made a part of these minutes the following abstract of <br /> <br />votes cast in the "Dog Leash Law" referendum conducted May 4, 1976: <br /> <br />For: <br />Against: <br /> <br />2,466 votes <br />1,002 votes <br /> <br />In connection with this referendum, Council directed City Manager Noland to <br /> <br />obtain "Dog Leash Law" ordinances in effect in other municipalities and to relay <br /> <br />same to City Attorney Worthy for preparation of a draft ordinance for Council's <br /> <br />- <br /> <br />consideration. Meanwhile, Mr. Glynwood G. Lawing, of 1005 Mountain Road, citing <br /> <br />the results of the referendum, urged Council to proceed with due speed toward <br /> <br />the adoption of a "Dog Leash" ordinance. Mr. D. B. McCullough, of 712 Parkview <br /> <br />Avenue, suggested that Council consider including cats in the restrictions to be <br /> <br />placed upon dogs and dog owners. Mr. Robert N. Crockett, of 1007 Mountain Road, <br /> <br />offered some suggestions pertaining to the City's Dog Pound. <br /> <br />Upon motion, duly seconded, and upon a recorded vote (which was unanimous), <br /> <br />Council convened into an Executive Session to discuss the City's contract (and/or <br /> <br />the possible revision thereof) with Mrs. Lucille Andes Weaver, under which <br /> <br />contract theCity leases property on East Main Street for use as a municipal <br /> <br />parking lot. Council then reconvened into regular session and continued this <br /> <br />.- <br /> <br />matter for further study. <br /> <br />City Manager Noland informed Council that his proposed or recommended 1976-77 <br /> <br />City Budget would soon be forthcoming and would necessitate several special <br /> <br />meetings to expedite the processing thereof, particularly in light of statutory <br /> <br />requirements that the School Budget portion must be adopted no later than <br /> <br />May 31, 1976. <br />
