(... ...l c~' : TUESDAY MAY 111 197&. /- Council also ordered made a part of these minutes the following abstract of votes cast in the "Dog Leash Law" referendum conducted May 4, 1976: For: Against: 2,466 votes 1,002 votes In connection with this referendum, Council directed City Manager Noland to obtain "Dog Leash Law" ordinances in effect in other municipalities and to relay same to City Attorney Worthy for preparation of a draft ordinance for Council's - consideration. Meanwhile, Mr. Glynwood G. Lawing, of 1005 Mountain Road, citing the results of the referendum, urged Council to proceed with due speed toward the adoption of a "Dog Leash" ordinance. Mr. D. B. McCullough, of 712 Parkview Avenue, suggested that Council consider including cats in the restrictions to be placed upon dogs and dog owners. Mr. Robert N. Crockett, of 1007 Mountain Road, offered some suggestions pertaining to the City's Dog Pound. Upon motion, duly seconded, and upon a recorded vote (which was unanimous), Council convened into an Executive Session to discuss the City's contract (and/or the possible revision thereof) with Mrs. Lucille Andes Weaver, under which contract theCity leases property on East Main Street for use as a municipal parking lot. Council then reconvened into regular session and continued this .- matter for further study. City Manager Noland informed Council that his proposed or recommended 1976-77 City Budget would soon be forthcoming and would necessitate several special meetings to expedite the processing thereof, particularly in light of statutory requirements that the School Budget portion must be adopted no later than May 31, 1976.
