~ I! fj .l~~ TUESDAY FEBRUARY 10~ 1976 in order to obtain financial assistance in the cost of said Study from the Commonwealth of Virginia's Department of Highways & Transportation, Council adopted the following resolution requesting such assistance and~ also, authorized the executing by an appropriate City official of an agreement with said Department of Highways & Transportation for this purpose: WHEREAS, under date of December 10, 1974~ Martinsvi1le City Council adopted a resolution authorizing the filing by the City of Martinsville of an application with the United States Department of Transportation requesting financial assistance toward the cost of a proposed Mass Transit Technical Study for the City of Martinsvi1le~ with the study area to include Martinsville and adjacent urban areas of Henry County; and, WHEREAS, at its regular meeting held October 25, 1975, Martinsville City Council was informed that the Federal Government's Urban Mass Transportation Administration had allocated the sum of $28~000.00 toward the cost of said proposed Study~ being 80% of the estimated total cost of $35~000.OO~ and that the Commonwealth of Virginia's Department of Highways & Transportation--should it participate in the cost of said Study--would contribute up to $5~950.00~ or 17% of said estimated cost~ said Study being identified as Project No. VA-09-0016; and~ WHEREAS~ on said October 28~ 1975, Martinsville City Council unanimously authorized its City Manager~ Thomas B. Noland~ to execute required documents on behalf of the City~ i.e.~ with the Federal Government and with the Virginia Department of Highways & Transportation, in connection with said proposed Study; now~ therefore, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia~ in regular meeting assembled this tenth day of February, 1976, that it does hereby request said Virginia Department of Highways & Transportation to participate in said
