<br />0''' <br />.-i. / · <br />. v '::t <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />JANUARY 13, 1976 <br /> <br />for the City~ it being noted that the consulting engineers have completed <br /> <br />their contract with the City for the preparation of these plans~ as already <br /> <br />presented and adopted~ and such additional service (estimated to be minimal <br /> <br />in cost) would be over and above the initial contract. <br /> <br />Upon motion, duly seconded and unanimously carried~ Council adopted the <br /> <br />following ordinance amending Section 2(a) of an ordinance adopted November l3~ <br /> <br />1973 which provides real estate property tax exemptions, within the <br /> <br />framework thereof, to qualifying home owners: <br /> <br />WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 58-760.1 of the CODE OF VIRGINIA <br />(1950~ and as amended), Martinsville City Council adopted on <br />November l3~ 1973 (effective on and after January l~ 1974) an <br />ordinance providing real estate tax exemptions to qualifying <br />elderly home owners and setting forth terms~ conditions~ and <br />restrictions as well as authority for the administering of said <br />ordinance; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS~ it is the desire of the Council of the City of <br />Martinsville~ to amend a portion of said ordinance~ viz.~ Section <br />2(a); now~ therefore, <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Martinsville, <br />Virginia~ in regular meeting assembled January l3~ 1976~ that <br />Section 2(a) of the aforementioned ordinance be~ and is hereby <br />amended~ to read as follows: <br /> <br />2. (a) The total combined income during the <br />immediately preceding calendar year from all <br />sources of the owner or owners of the dwelling <br />living therein and of the owner's or owners' <br />relatives living in the dwelling shall not <br />exceed $5~OOO.OO, provided that the first <br />$4~OOO.OO of income of each relative, other <br />than the spouse(s) of the owner~ or owners~ who <br />is living in the dwelling shall not be included <br />in such total. <br /> <br />"_._*"--------~-,--_._-*",-"._'" -~,..~_.".,.".._".".""".......--.,"_.,,~=,,----~ <br />
