<br />12~ <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />DECEMBER 9, 1975 <br /> <br />- <br /> <br />Pursuant to recommendation submitted by Mr. Jan C. Reed, Director of Court Services <br /> <br />for the area Juvenile & Domestic Relations Court's Service Unit~ which recommendation <br /> <br />carried the support of Judge J. English Ford, of the J&DR Court, Council unanimously <br /> <br />appointed Mrs. Frances Monday and Mr. William Vickers as the City's representative- <br /> <br />members to a Citizens' Advisory Council being established as an aid to the 21st <br /> <br />District Court Service Unit (probation department). <br /> <br />Council held in abeyance any action on the local Chamber of Commerce's request for <br /> <br />a donation of $2,500.00 toward the cost of landscaping and improving the grounds of <br /> <br />the Henry County Courthouse site~ in Martinsville, pending a review by the CBD <br /> <br />Commission, that it might correlate this project with the overall downtown renewal <br /> <br />project's plans, and a report and recommendation (as to the request) by the CBD <br /> <br />Commission to the Council. <br /> <br />In reply to an inquiry, Council went on record as favoring and urging the <br /> <br />continuation and/or extending of the current Federal Revenue Sharing program (due <br /> <br />to expire December 31, 1976) and, also, directed that the City's representatives <br /> <br />in the United States Congress be so advised thereof. <br /> <br />~".-.-" <br /> <br />City Manager Noland informed Council of a series of Virginia Municipal League- <br /> <br />sponsored meetings with members of the Virginia General Assembly, for the purpose of <br /> <br />discussing impending legislative matters to come before the 1976 General Assembly, with <br /> <br />an area meeting for this purpose being scheduled in Salem~ Virginia, on December 16, 1975. <br /> <br />,- <br />
