<br />126 <br /> <br />DECEMBER 9, 1975 <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />Upon recommendation of City Manager Noland, Council authorized the City Manager <br /> <br />to express~ on behalf of the City, an interest in discussing with the General <br /> <br />Services Administration of the United States Government the possibility of the <br /> <br />City's acquiring the present "downtown" postoffice building if it is to be <br /> <br />abandoned as a postoffice facility and no other Federal usage is to be made of <br /> <br />this building. <br /> <br />Pursuant to a request by the Virginia Municipal League, stemming from its <br /> <br />financial needs and its financing reorganization~ Council authorized the <br /> <br />payment of $277.00 to the League as a supplement to the City's current annual <br /> <br />membership dues, for the year ending July l~ 1976. <br /> <br />Council rescheduled its forthcoming December 23rd meeting to December 30, 1975, <br /> <br />should a need arise for a meeting on said December 30th. <br /> <br />In connection with Council's action on November 25, 1975, wherein--by resolution-- <br /> <br />Council expressed concurrence with the "1985 Highway Functional Classification" <br /> <br />and the "Realigned Federal-Aid Highway Systems", Council unanimously authorized <br /> <br />Mr. George W. Brown~ Assistant City Manager-Director of Public Works, to certify <br /> <br />two maps, delineating the realignment of the highway system within the City~ to <br /> <br />the Virginia Department of Highways & Transportation. <br /> <br />At the suggestion of, and upon motion by, Councilman Fitz-Hugh, which motion was <br /> <br />duly seconded and unanimously carried, Council directed that the City's <br /> <br />representatives to the 1976 Virginia General Assembly be not only apprised of <br />
