<br />1G <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />OCTOBER 28, 1975 <br /> <br />Council acknowledged receipt of--and concurred with--a report of the local <br /> <br />- <br /> <br />Highway Safety Commission (dated October 14, 1975) pertaining to traffic <br /> <br />problems (ingress and egress) at Rudy's Auto Seat Cover Center, located at <br /> <br />334 Memorial Boulevard, which problems Mr. Rudy Utt, owner and operator, <br /> <br />brought to Council's attention on June 24, 1975 and August 26, 1975. <br /> <br />Council took no action, pending development of additional information, on <br /> <br />a request filed October 14, 1975 by The First National Bank of Martinsville & <br /> <br />Henry County seeking a refund of property taxes alledgedly erroneously assessed <br /> <br />by the City on the bank's property on the southside of East Church Street, at <br /> <br />Ellsworth Street, said request seeking a refund for each of the past seven years. <br /> <br />Upon motion, duly seconded and unanimously carried, Council appointed <br /> <br />Mrs. John L. Manson (of 103 Farmington Court) as the City's member-representative <br /> <br />to the Area Agency on Aging. <br /> <br />Council accepted City Manager Noland's recommended usages of additional Federal <br /> <br />CETA funds recently made available to the City of Martinsville. <br /> <br />Upon receipt of a financial report covering the City's budgetary operations for <br /> <br />the quarter ended September 30, 1975, and in connection with the City School <br /> <br />Board's financial problems presented to Council on October 14, 1975, Councilman <br /> <br />Greene presented the following prepared statement, including a three-part motion <br /> <br />as set forth therein which was duly seconded and unanimously carried: <br /> <br />I have several comments in regard to Mr. Yeaman's October 22nd Quarterly <br />Financial Summary and in regard to the School Board's request for <br />$40,220.00 additional funds. <br />
