<br />,.., <br />u <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />AUGUST 26, 1975 <br /> <br />Pursuant to recommendation of the Planning Commission (dated August 22, 1975), Council <br /> <br />granted permission to Ray D. Frith & Partners to connect to a City-owned water line in <br /> <br />the City's Industrial Park area to provide domestic water service and fire protection <br /> <br />water service at a building applicant proposes to construct on property identified as <br /> <br />a portion of the "old Hedgecock brickyard", subject to compliance with the City's <br /> <br />"M-3 Industrial" zoning regulations which, it was reported, are cited and made a part <br /> <br />.- <br /> <br />of deed of conveyance of said property to petitioner. <br /> <br />Council acknowledged a report from the Planning Commission that no action is required <br /> <br />on a recent application for a Special-Use Permit, as filed by the Martinsville <br /> <br />Sportsmen's Club, to allow applicant to convert and occupy the former Community Hospital <br /> <br />premises for recreational purposes; thus, said application was ordered placed in a <br /> <br />"suspense" file. <br /> <br />Upon recommendation of City Manager Noland and Police Chief Frank A. Gard, Sr., Council <br /> <br />authorized the execution by City Manager Noland of a Mutual Assistance Agreement, <br /> <br />being an extension of a similar agreement entered into some two years ago, whereby-- <br /> <br />under legislation recently enacted by the Virginia Generm Assemb1y--a special area <br /> <br />- <br /> <br />investigative task force from area law enforcement agencies will be formally organized, <br /> <br />for which the City's participating cost is included in the current budget. <br /> <br />Through Police Chief Gard, the Martinsville-Henry County Oil Dealers Association expressed <br /> <br />appreciation of the support and reception given the Martinsville-Henry County "Oilers" <br /> <br />Connie Mack Baseball Team which recently participated in the Connie Mack League World <br /> <br />Series at Farmington, New Mexico, as winners of the Southeast Regional Championship. <br /> <br />In connection with the construction and development of the City's Central Warehouse- <br /> <br />Garage in 1953-1954 and the construction in connection therewith of a (Carolina & <br />
