86

TUESDAY

AUGUST 26, 1975

Northwestern) railroad siding into said facility, Council approved--for execution

by appropriate City officials of~-an agreement with the Norfolk & Southern Railway

Company to permit maintenance by said railway company of said siding or spur track.

Mr. John J. A. Sanders, resident and owner of property at 308 Starling Avenue,

appeared before Council and requested permission to paint a City-owned wooden

utility pole near the driveway at 308 Starling Avenue, Mr. Sanders contending that

such painting would not only enhance the appearance of said pole but also would

constitute a safety measure for motor vehicular traffic at that location. Although

Mr. Sanders did not admit to having exercised in advance the privilege for which

permission was being sought, Council was informed that the pole in question had

already been painted. In any event, Council informed Mr. Sanders that the City's

policy does not permit or allow for the painting of City-owned utility poles; thus,

the request was denied.

Mr. Rudy Utt, operator of a business located at 334 Memorial Boulevard, appeared

before Council and renewed his request presented to Council on June 24, 1975 for

attention to traffic hazards involving his customer traffic, at which time Council

referred Mr. Utt to the Highway Safety Commission. Council again referred Mr. Utt

to the Highway Safety Commission.

Council was adjourned.

W. H. Y~aman, Clerk of Council
