<br />(;; <br />~(i <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />MAY 27, 1975 <br /> <br />"..."..-.., <br /> <br />After receiving a report on an Area Agency on Aging, setting forth the <br /> <br />structuring, representation, funding, etc., as prepared by Patrick Henry <br /> <br />Community College, Council unanimously authorized participation by the <br /> <br />City in such an agency, at a cost to the City of $247.00, for one year, at <br /> <br />the conclusion of which Council would review this matter and determine <br /> <br />whether the City should continue its participation. <br /> <br />Upon motion, duly seconded and unanimously carried, Council approved a <br /> <br />contract by which the present Martinsville-Henry County Regional Public Library <br /> <br />will be enlarged in scope to include the County of Patrick, which county--until <br /> <br />recently--operated a regional library with Franklin County. (Note: it was <br /> <br />reported that Franklin County has chosen not to participate in the enlarged <br /> <br />regional library.) Action of Council also authorized Mayor Boaz to execute <br /> <br />said contract on behalf of the City. <br /> <br />In acceptance of a proposal from the Board of Trustees of the former Martinsville <br /> <br />Memorial Public Library, Council unanimously authorized the purchase of the <br /> <br />"Smith" property, adjacent to the east lot line of the central library site <br /> <br />recently deeded to the City by said Trustees and situated between East Church <br /> <br />- <br /> <br />Street and French Street, for the sum of $60,000.00, forty thousand dollars <br /> <br />of which will be donated by said Trustees from its owned assets and the <br /> <br />remaining $20,000.00 payable by the City in three equal annual installments with <br /> <br />interest at the rate of 8% per annum on unpaid balance. <br /> <br />City Manager Noland reminded Council that a planned-usage report for Federal <br /> <br />Revenue-Sharing funds to be allocated for fiscal 1975-76 must be processed in <br />
