In so accepting the City Attorney's recommendations, Council authorized <br /> <br />the expending of (up to ) $15,000.00 for the purposes set forth hereinabove; <br /> <br />furthermore, Council directed City Manager Edmonds to compile a study of similar <br /> <br />drainage and erosion problems within the City and report thereon to Council in <br /> <br />order that Council may establish a firm policy and position for the handling of <br /> <br />such problems in the future. <br /> <br />Upon motion, duly seconded and unanimously carried, Council authorized City Manager <br /> <br />Edmonds to execute, on behalf of the City, a contract with the City of Roanoke for <br /> <br />the temporary housing in the Roanoke City Jail of City of Martinsville jail inmates, <br /> <br />as necessary. <br /> <br />Upon motion, duly seconded and by a recorded unanimous vote, and pursuant to <br /> <br />Section 2.1-344(2) and Section 2.1-344(6) of the CODE OF VIRGINIA (1950, and as <br /> <br />amended), Council convened into an Executive Session for the following purposes: <br /> <br />(1) to consider the status of negotiations in progress for the <br />purchase by the City of a site for a new 1,000,000-gallon water <br />storage tank; <br /> <br />(2) to consider the appointing of an ad hoc citizens' committee to <br />study and make recommendations concerning rules and regulations <br />governing the public use of the City's Beaver Creek Water <br />Impounding facility; <br /> <br />(3) to consider the appointing of a replacement on the Planning <br />Commission for Mr. T. J. Childress, Jr., resigned (as of <br />October 15, 1980); and <br /> <br />(4) to consider the appointing of a representative from the <br />City to the Housing & Economic Development Committee of <br />the West Piedmont Planning District Commission. <br /> <br />Upon reconvening into regular session, Council unanimously took the following actions <br /> <br />on these matters: <br />
