<br />- J'! <br /> <br />~"I <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />SEPTEMBER 23, 1980 <br /> <br />WHEREAS City Council desires to designate <br />as the official authorized to issue bingo <br />of Martinsville; now therefore, <br /> <br />the City Manager <br />permits in the City <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Martinsville, <br />Virginia, in regular session held on September 23, 1980, that <br />the City Manager be, and he hereby is, authorized and directed <br />to issue bingo permits to qualified organizations in the <br />City of Martinsville in accordance with the provisions of <br />Article 1.1, Chapter 8 of Title 18.2 of the 1950 Code of Virginia, <br />as amended. <br /> <br />With Councilman West abstaining and with all other members of Council voting affirmatively <br /> <br />on a motion, duly seconded, Council accepted a proposal negotiated with the Piedmont Trust <br /> <br />Bank for the servicing of loans made by the City under the City's approved Housing <br /> <br />Rehabilitation Program. <br /> <br />Upon motion, duly seconded and unanimously carried, Council accepted the proposal (dated <br /> <br />August 20, 1980) submitted by Piedmont Trust Bank for the lease-purchase financing of the <br /> <br />City's computerized data processing system, including software and auxiliary equipment, <br /> <br />in the net amount (the City having paid a deposit or made a "down-payment" of $23,199.30) <br /> <br />of approximately $122,500.00, for which net amount, pursuant to option No. 1 accepted by <br /> <br />Council, the City will make monthly payments of $2,484.00 for a period of sixty months, at <br /> <br />the end of which sixty months title to the equipment will automatically pass to the City. <br /> <br />Council unanimously amended the City's 1980-81 budget, as follows: <br /> <br />A. Appropriated to the development of a "mini-park" in the <br />southside area $5,400.00 donated by The Exchange Club <br />of Martinsvi1le (on September 9, 1980) for this purpose; <br /> <br />B. Appropriated to landscaping improvements (around the <br />City's Municipal Building) the sum of $319.82 recently <br />donated by Councilman Reed from his councilmanic campaign <br />treasury; <br />
