<br />n .( <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />JULY 22, 1980 <br /> <br />- <br /> <br />Upon motion, duly seconded and unanimously carried, Council approved for execution a <br /> <br />certification to the Virginia State Library authorizing that the sum of $92,918.00 in <br /> <br />State aid may be expended by the Blue Ridge Regional Library during 1980-81 for the <br /> <br />purposes set forth under the regulations of the State Library Board. <br /> <br />Council unanimously authorized the expenditure of up to $7,500.00 for repairs to the <br /> <br />-- <br /> <br />dividing wall between the two generator-turbine units at the City's hydro-electric plant, <br /> <br />this work to be done by Concrete Repair Specialists, Lynchburg, Virginia. <br /> <br />Council requested The Honorable Frank I. Richardson, Jr., Judge of the 21st Judicial <br /> <br />Circuit, to appoint a Board of Equalization for the City for a period beginning <br /> <br />January 1, 1981. <br /> <br />Council appointed Councilman Henry C. Reed as a Councilmanic-member of the West <br /> <br />Piedmont Planning District Commission, effective September 1, 1980 and ending <br /> <br />concurrently with Mr. Reed's councilmanic term on June 30, 1984, with Mr. Reed <br /> <br />succeeding Councilman L. D. Oakes, who chose not to be reappointed. <br /> <br />Council unanimously adopted the following ordinance amending Section 2-6 of the City <br /> <br />Code to provide for the appointment by Council of members to the City Planning <br /> <br />Commission: <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Martinsville, <br />Virginia, in regular session held this twenty-second day of <br />July, 1980, that Section 2-6 of the Code of the City of <br />Martinsville, Virginia (1971, and as amended), be and is <br />hereby amended so that the first sentence thereof shall <br />read as follows: <br />
