<br />. -. /- -~ t-" <br />, , ,j ~) <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />JUNE 24, 1980 <br /> <br />Council was informed that bids will soon be received for the construction of <br /> <br />a shelter for the Farmers' Market and that, subsequently, additional information <br /> <br />will be presented to Council pertaining to the financing of the construction of <br /> <br />produce tables for the market. <br /> <br />Council acknowledged a status report with regard to odors emanating from the <br /> <br />City's Water Pollution Control (Sewage Treatment) Plant, indicating--to which <br /> <br />Mr. John D. Hodges (of 1800 Mulberry Road) concurred--that procedures recently <br /> <br />effected (toward abating this problem) appear to be producing positive results. <br /> <br />Council was informed, too, that a report on the current Wiley & Wilson "capacity <br /> <br />study" of the plant should be available for Council's forthcoming July 8th <br /> <br />meeting and, soon to follow, would be a report on the plant design and operating <br /> <br />procedures being prepared by independent consultants. <br /> <br />Upon motion, duly seconded and unanimously carried, Council accepted a quotation <br /> <br />cost estimate from General Electric, in the amount of $35,100.00, for additional <br /> <br />repair work on the City's disabled 1,000 Kw generator at the City's hydro-electric <br /> <br />plant; and, in so doing, authorized the repairs thereto. <br /> <br />Council unanimously granted permission to Mr. James P. Price, Jr., and to Mr. <br /> <br />J. B. Frith (President of Frith Construction), through their counsel, Mr. Douglas <br /> <br />K. Frith, Attorney at Law, to lower the grade of Salem Street, between Winston <br /> <br />Street and Memorial Boulevard. <br /> <br />With Vice-Mayor Cole abstaining and all other members voting affirmatively, Council <br /> <br />referred to the Planning Commission, for its consideration, the possible resub- <br /> <br />dividing of property owned by Mr. James P. Price, Jr., near the intersection of <br />
