<br />r', /~ <br />(;' \_J <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />MAY 13, 1980 <br /> <br />abutting property owners are in accord, as reported by Attorney Douglas K. <br /> <br />Frith, their counsel. <br /> <br />City Manager Noland presented a proposed City Budget for the fiscal year beginning <br /> <br />July 1, 1980, accompanied by his Budget Message, on which proposed budget Council <br /> <br />called for a special meeting (Le., "work session") to begin at 12:30 P.M. in the <br /> <br />Council Chamber, City Hall, on Thursday, May 22, 1980. Council also called for <br /> <br />a special meeting with the City School Board to receive and discuss the School <br /> <br />Board's 1980-8l budget. <br /> <br />Council took no action toward changing the City's policy pertaining to police <br /> <br />escort service for funeral processions. <br /> <br />Council was notified that the Virginia Municipal League-sponsored pooling plan <br /> <br />for municipal worker's compensation insurance will go into effect on July 1, 1980. <br /> <br />As an aid to Council's decision on whether to enter this pooling arrangement, <br /> <br />Council requested that the City's insurance consultant (Mr. R. L. Fisher of <br /> <br />Industrial Insurance Management Corporation) brief Council on the various facets <br /> <br />of this pooling proposal. <br /> <br />Council acknowledged with appreciation receipt of a deed from the Tultex Corporation <br /> <br />conveying to the City (1) a ten-foot strip of land adjacent to the east right-of-way <br /> <br />line of Bridge Street, beginning at Chestnut Street and extending northward to the <br /> <br />former Hamilton Hotel property and (2) a six-foot strip of land adjacent to the <br />
