'r Q
; t) (J

TUESDAY

MAY 13, 1980

City contributing $4,500.00~ the cost (of $9,000.00) of evaluating energy

conservation and management measures, with technical assistance reports thereon,

for the City's Municipal Building (City Hall) and Fire Station No.1.

Council referred to City Attorney Worthy, for study and consideration, a proposed

ordinance, supported by the Martinsville Transportation Safety Commission and by

Police Chief Frank A. Gard, Sr., to regulate motor vehicle vendors of ice cream

and related ice products, for the greater protection of children.

Referred to the Public Works Department, to develop a satisfactory lease

arrangement, was the petition submitted by Reynolds Radio Service (Mr. A. Paul

Reynolds, Owner) seeking the abandonment by the City of Lots 5A and 6A, fronting

Memorial Boulevard and situated between Memorial Bouelvard and Henry Street, these

lots being a residue from right-of-way acquired by the City in the constucting of

Memorial Boulevard some years ago.

Council filed, for its forthcoming annual review, a petition submitted by twelve

residents along a section of Mountain Road, which petition seeks the construction

by the City, on a shared-cost basis, of curb-and-gutter along said section.

Meanwhile, Council suggested that the Public Works Department provide assistance

toward alleviating muddy conditions along this section.

With the understanding that the City's utility services will not be interrupted

or discontinued, Council granted permission to Frith Construction Company to lower

the present elevation of Maryland Street (i.e., that section thereof involving the

expansion of the Virginia Mirror Company's plant), to which elevation change the

* $3.000.00 of which is "in kind".
