(- <br /> <br />( I'l <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br />. <br /> <br />FEBRUARY 12, 1980 <br /> <br />-- <br /> <br />acceptance of the Planning Commission's recommendation thereon, Council granted <br /> <br />said petition and effected the requested closing through the adoption of the <br /> <br />following ordinance amending the City Plan: <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, in <br />regular meeting assembled, pursuant to Section 3 of Chapter 8 of the <br />Charter of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, and subject to the pro- <br />visions of Section 15.1-483 of the CODE OF VIRGINIA (1950, and as amended), <br />that a certain undeveloped street space, being fifteen (15) feet in width <br />and identified as Lot No. 13A on subsection "Double Circle 4" of Section <br />41 of the Tax Map of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, and being further <br />identified as situated on the northwest side of South Askin Street between <br />properties presently owned by Charles W. and Carolyn M. Read, be and is <br />hereby declared closed. <br /> <br />BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED by said Council that, an emergency existing, this <br />ordinance shall be in force from date of adoption. <br /> <br />Upon motion, duly seconded and unanimously carried, Council directed that a duly- <br /> <br />advertised public hearing be conducted at Council's forthcoming March 11th meeting <br /> <br />on an application for a Special-Use Permit, as filed with Council on January 22, <br /> <br />1980 by The Clyde Beatty-Cole Bros. Circus, which permit--if issued--would allow <br /> <br />petitioner to present its circus, with or without a sponsor, at Liberty Heights <br /> <br />Fairgrounds on April 28th-29th, 1980, Council noting that the Planning Commission <br /> <br />has this application under consideration and will present its recommendations <br /> <br />thereon by said March 11th meeting. <br /> <br />Upon motion, duly seconded and unanimously carried, Council referred to the Select <br /> <br />Citizens Committee (for the proposed Ridgeway hydro-electric project studies), for <br /> <br />analysis and guidance, the several proposals Council has received from investment <br /> <br />banking firms seeking to serve as the City's financial adviser(s) should said <br /> <br />Ridgeway project be authorized. In addition, Council asked Vice Mayor Cole to serve <br /> <br />in a liason capacity on this assignment to said committee. <br />
