on said requests, meanwhile directing that a letter from the Council be forwarded to said

Board, pointing out that--in the Council's opinion--these several officials are discharging

the duties of their offices in a commendable manner.

and 1980.

Mr. Tarleton R. Andes, Chairman of the Martinsvil1e Exchange Club's Freedom Shrine (Exhibit)

Committee, appeared before Council and requested (on behalf of said Club) that Council designate

the first-floor lobby of City Hall as the permanent site for said exhibit, with the Exchange Club

proposing to frame and suspend, with appropriate fixtures, the three sections of this exhibit, at

the Exchange Club's expense, expressing a preference for this location over the second-floor

lobby site proposed by City Manager Noland, reasons for which the City Manager presented in his

memoranda dated January 13, 1978 and March 24, 1978. After some discussion, and upon motion (duly

seconded) to "table" this matter, and with Vice Mayor Cole abstaining, the remaining members of

Council present voted in favor of the motion.
