<br />:,~J <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />FEBRUARY 28, 1978 <br /> <br />Upon motion, duly seconded and unanimously carried, Council concurred in the <br /> <br />recent additional allowance of $1,800.00 by the State Compansation Board for <br /> <br />the "Extra Help" category, fiscal 1977-78, in the budget of the City's <br /> <br />Commissioner of Revenue. <br /> <br />Council, with Councilman West abstaining, acknowledged receipt of the sum of <br /> <br />$9,856.00 from the Piedmont Seniors of Virginia, being the second half of a <br /> <br />total grant of $19,712.00 toward the Senior Citizens Building project, which <br /> <br />total sum Council previously appropriated during its meeting held December 13, 1977. <br /> <br />Council also acknowledged receipt of a State grant of $2,479.00 for the litter <br /> <br />control program authorized by Council during its meeting of January 24, 1978, with <br /> <br />Council unanimously appropriating said grant sum for this purpose. <br /> <br />Council referred to the Planning Commission, for its consideration and recommendation, <br /> <br />a petition filed by Mr. Philip G. Gardner, Attorney at Law, on behalf of Fifteen <br /> <br />Cleveland Avenue, Inc., seeking the rezoning (from "R-6 Residential" to "P-2 <br /> <br />Professional") of the rear portions of both the De-Shazo and Spencer properties <br /> <br />fronting the north side of Brown Street. <br /> <br />Council also referred to the Planning Commission, for its consideration and <br /> <br />recommendation, a petition seeking a "P-2 Professional" zoning of property situated <br /> <br />at 204 Starling Avenue, as filed by Mr. Benjamin R. Gardner, Attorney at Law, on <br /> <br />behalf of Elizabeth O. McAlpine (committee for Ethel L. Overton) and Dixie Realty. <br /> <br />Too, Council referred to the Planning Commission for its consideration and <br /> <br />recommendation, a petition filed by Mr. W. Lowell Thomas seeking the abandonment <br /> <br />and quit-claiming (by the City in favor of Mr. Thomas) of that residue of <br />
