<br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />FEBRUARY 14, 1978 <br /> <br />- <br /> <br />Council effected said proposed rezoning through the following ordinance amending <br /> <br />the City's Zoning Map: <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, <br />in regular meeting assembled this fourteenth day of February, 1978, <br />that the Zoning Map of the City of Martinsvil1e, Virginia, be--and is <br />hereby--amended to effect and reflect a "P-2 Professional" zoning of <br />that property identified as "810 Starling Avenue" and owned by Mrs. <br />Kathleen Odell. <br /> <br />- <br /> <br />Pursuant to Section 58-1117.2 and/or Article 8, Chapter 21, of Title 58 of the <br /> <br />CODE OF VIRGINIA (1950, and as amended), Council employed Mr. Howard J. Beck, Jr., <br /> <br />Attorney at Law, to take action in the name of the City of Martinsvi11e versus <br /> <br />the owners, heirs and/or assigns of property owned and/or formerly owned by Elijah <br /> <br />Gravely (Lot No. 51) and by Betty Redd (Lot No. 51A) to collect taxes assessed <br /> <br />against the owners of said properties and due the City, said properties being <br /> <br />situated at the end of Cherry Street, in Martinsvi11e. <br /> <br />Council referred to the Planning Commission, for its consideration and recommendation, <br /> <br />an application for a Special-Use Permit, as filed by Nationwide Homes, Inc., to allow <br /> <br />applicant to construct a twenty-unit apartment complex at the corner of Rives and <br /> <br />Drewry Roads. <br /> <br />- <br /> <br />Council ~o referred to the Planning Commission, for its consideration and <br /> <br />recommendation, an application for a Special-Use Permit, filed verbally by Dr. <br /> <br />William M. Chadduck, to allow applicant to develop certain of his property in the <br /> <br />Dudley Street area, with Dr. Chadduck indicating that, subsequently, he would <br /> <br />reinstate his initial petition (dated February 6, 1978, withdrawn in favor of subject <br /> <br />application) seeking the closing and abandonment of a segment of Dudley Street. <br />
