/ ~"
\ '
,'.... (.

TUESDAY

NOVEMBER 23, 1982

conducted by Council on this matter at its forthcoming December 14th meeting.

Upon motion, duly seconded and unanimously carried, Council directed that penalties and

interest in 1974 first-half real estate taxes assessed against property located on Pony

Place, which property was purchased in June of 1974 by Messrs. Buddy Williams and Mica

Williams from the late J. P. Wade, Jr., because said taxes were not collected by the

closing attorney at the time of the transaction and because the purchasers were unaware

that delinquent taxes for this period were due or past due until recently. In author-

izing this waiver, Council was of the understanding that the present owners (i.e., the

Messrs. Williams) are willing to pay the delinquent real estate taxes in the amount of

$769.50.

Council unanimously approved a budget development calendar for the City's fiscal year

beginning July 1, 1983, as prepared by City Manager Edmonds.

Mr. Howard Lenderking, of 1118 Corn Tassel Trail, offered comments (which Council

acknowledged) on the water rate study (hereinbefore mentioned in these minutes) and on

the water rate increases recommended therein.

Council acknowledged receipt of-- and ordered made a part of these minutes--the

following responses by City Manager Edmonds and City Treasurer John W. Bouldin, Jr.,

to certain recommendations in the Report on Audit for the City's fiscal year ended

June 30, 1982, as prepared by James K. Sells, CPA:

Response by City Manager Edmonds

CPA Jim Sells' recently-submitted audit report on the City's 1981-82
fiscal year contained a "management letter" and a number of recom-
mendations which the administrative staff has studied with care. This
report is to advise the Council of our response to Sells' suggestions
and to give you a view of the things we have already done, things we
are doing and things we plan to do.
