<br />, '~: ( <br />; 'L'; \ '" <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />SEPTEMBER 14, 1982 <br /> <br />proposed amending of the City's Zoning Ordinance to permit, with administrative approval, <br /> <br />the conduct-sponsorship by certain non-profit organizations of short-term <br /> <br />" <br /> <br />promotional, recreational, or fund-raising amusement activities and facilities. <br /> <br />" <br /> <br />in the City's P-2 Professional District(s) and thereby expand the now-limited zoning <br /> <br />districts in which such activities may be conducted as well as obviate the current neces- <br /> <br />sity of requiring special-use permits therefor as well as the time-consuming process <br /> <br />involved therein. <br /> <br />Council unanimously gave general authorization to City Manager Edmonds to proceed with <br /> <br />measures toward the development of a deferred compensation plan for City employees, as <br /> <br />recommended by Mr. Edmonds in his report thereon (dated September 8, 1982), through the <br /> <br />International City Management Association-Retirement Corporation, for which approval must <br /> <br />first be obtained from certain governmental agencies and on which certain appropriate <br /> <br />resolutions require adoption by Council before the plan can be put into effect. <br /> <br />Mayor Cole announced that, by proclamation, he has designated the period September 17th- <br /> <br />23rd as "Constitution Week" in observance on September 17th (1982) of the 195th anniver- <br /> <br />sary of the drafting of the Constitution of the United States by the Constitutional <br /> <br />Convention, in which proclamation Mayor Cole urged local citizens to pay special attention <br /> <br />to our Federal Constitution and to the advantages of American citizenship. <br /> <br />Mayor Cole also announced receipt of an explanation, prepared by Commissioner of Revenue <br /> <br />J. Ronnie Minter, of the current assessing-taxing procedures used by the Commissioner's <br /> <br />office with regard to tangible personal property (motor vehicles). <br /> <br />Council was informed of a forthcoming Public Forum on Human Transportation. <br />
