" <br />) ,\. <br /> <br />"S <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />JULY 27, 1982 <br /> <br />City Manager Edmonds informed Council that Memorial Hospital (of Martinsvi11e & Henry <br /> <br />County) has just received bids for the proposed improvements to Hospital Drive and has <br /> <br />accepted the low bid of $74,257.56 therefor, with the City's 40% share thereof being <br /> <br />$29,702.98 instead of the $27,200.00 estimated and appropriated (see Council minutes of <br /> <br />July 13, 1982), thus requiring an additional appropriation and 1982-83 budget adjust- <br /> <br />ment of $2,502.98, which sum Council unanimously appropriated. <br /> <br />Council acknowledged receipt of a report from Vice-Mayor Oakes on the recent meeting <br /> <br />(which he attended) of the Legislative Committee of the Virginia Municipal League. <br /> <br />Council congratulated Councilman West upon his having recently been elected Vice-Chairman <br /> <br />of the Virginia Community College Board. <br /> <br />Council acknowledged receipt of a report of the activities of the Martinsvil1e-Henry <br /> <br />County Rental Assistance Program for the quarter ended June 30, 1982. <br /> <br />Council agreed to conduct its annual tour of various City projects and related situations <br /> <br />on Monday, August 9, 1982, at 12 noon, beginning at the City Prison Farm. <br /> <br />Pursuant to Section 2.1-344(a)(1) and 2.1-344(a)(2) of the CODE OF VIRGINIA (1950, and as <br /> <br />amended), and upon motion (duly seconded and unanimously carried by a recorded vote), <br /> <br />Council convened into an Executive Session for the following purposes: <br /> <br />(1) To consider appointment of a representative to the Public Services <br />Committee of the West Piedmont Planning District Commission to re- <br />place Mr. James W. Hare, who recently resigned; <br />
