<br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />JULY 27, 1982 <br /> <br />(2) To consider appointment of a member to the City's Social Services <br />Administrative Board to replace Mr. James Moyer Merriman, who-- <br />though recently reappointed--has been declared ineligible because <br />he has already served the maximum number of successive terms as <br />limited by State Welfare regulations; and <br /> <br />(3) To consider the potential sale of City-owned properties. <br /> <br />Upon reconvening into regular session, Council took no action with regard to appointing <br /> <br />a successor to Mr. Hare on the WPPDC's Public Services Committee; however, Council <br /> <br />unanimously named Mr. Ralph J. Pruitt (of 805 Augusta Street) to succeed and replace <br /> <br />Mr. Merriman on the Social Services Administrative Board for an unexpired term ending <br /> <br />June 30, 1986. Council took no action with regard to the potential sale of City-owned <br /> <br />properties but concurred in Mayor Cole's appointment of Councilman Reed as Council's <br /> <br />communications liaison between Council and the Martinsville Industrial Development <br /> <br />Authority and the Henry County Industrial Development Authority, consolidation of which <br /> <br />(two authorities) has recently been proposed. <br /> <br />Council presented a token of its appreciation to Mr. James W. Severt for his outstanding <br /> <br />leadership of the Martinsvi1le Transportation Safety Commission, from which Commission <br /> <br />Mr. Severt resigned, effective June 30, 1982. <br /> <br />The meeting was adjourned. <br /> <br /> <br />- <br />
