TUESDAY

JULY 27, 1982

(2) To consider appointment of a member to the City's Social Services
Administrative Board to replace Mr. James Moyer Merriman, who--
though recently reappointed--has been declared ineligible because
he has already served the maximum number of successive terms as
limited by State Welfare regulations; and

(3) To consider the potential sale of City-owned properties.

Upon reconvening into regular session, Council took no action with regard to appointing

a successor to Mr. Hare on the WPPDC's Public Services Committee; however, Council

unanimously named Mr. Ralph J. Pruitt (of 805 Augusta Street) to succeed and replace

Mr. Merriman on the Social Services Administrative Board for an unexpired term ending

June 30, 1986. Council took no action with regard to the potential sale of City-owned

properties but concurred in Mayor Cole's appointment of Councilman Reed as Council's

communications liaison between Council and the Martinsville Industrial Development

Authority and the Henry County Industrial Development Authority, consolidation of which

(two authorities) has recently been proposed.

Council presented a token of its appreciation to Mr. James W. Severt for his outstanding

leadership of the Martinsvi1le Transportation Safety Commission, from which Commission

Mr. Severt resigned, effective June 30, 1982.

The meeting was adjourned.

-
