'.'~ A

t......,.~

JULY 27, 1982

TUESDAY

Lots Nos. 6-through-ll along the Water Street section recently abandoned in favor of Pannill

Knitting Company, plus the street right-of-way therein (now owned by petitioner), Council

called for a duly-advertised public hearing to be conducted by Council on this petition at

Council's forthcoming August 24th meeting.

With reference to the June 25th recommendation from Mr. J. Ronnie Minter, Commissioner of

the Revenue, Council accepted for introduction an ordinance, for further consideration and/

or adoption at its forthcoming August 10th meeting, which will establish the date of May 1st

(beginning with 1983) as the final due date for the filing of taxable tangible personal

property returns and, also, will provide a penalty on such returns (unless granted

extensions) not filed when due.

Council also accepted for introduction, and for further consideration and/or adoption at its

forthcoming August 10th meeting, a proposed ordinance which will provide for condemnation

and mandated removal or demolition of buildings deemed unsafe.

Council accepted, too, for introduction a proposed ordinance which, if enacted, will revise

Chapter 8 (of the City Code) in its entirety by establishing new regulations pertaining to

trash accumulation and disposal, to weeds and vegetative overgrowth, and to refuse collec-

tion. After discussing certain facets of these proposed regulations and making some

suggestions as to further changes therein, Council directed that its scheduled August 9th

tour of City projects include on-site examination of situations which would be affected by

these regulations as well as agreed to discuss these regulations at its forthcoming

August 10th meeting and to hold a public hearing thereon, tentatively scheduling same for

its following August 24th meeting.
