<br />,~, h <br /> <br />JUNE 22, 1982 <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />After conducting a duly-advertised public hearing (at which no objections were <br /> <br />registered) on an application for a Special-Use Permit, as filed by Garrett Wells & <br /> <br />Associates, seeking allowance for a joint wall construction on a side property line <br /> <br />between two lots for apartments located on Lot No. 3-R at 938 Banks Road, Council <br /> <br />unanimously approved said application contingent upon the re-subdividing of said Lot <br /> <br />No. 3-R, for which applicant is to file request with the Planning Commission in <br /> <br />accordance with the Planning Commission's recommendations thereon. <br /> <br />Cbuncilunanimously directed that duly-advertised public hearings be conducted by the <br /> <br />Council at its forthcoming July 13th meeting on the following petitions and/or proposals, <br /> <br />the last three of which have been before the Planning Commission and carry the Commission's <br /> <br />recommendations that same be approved: <br /> <br />A. Pannill Knitting Company's petition to vacate and close a portion of Water <br />Street (i.e., from Cleveland Avenue to properties owned by Joseph E. Lovell, et <br />aI, situated at 205 and 207 Water Street); <br /> <br />B. A proposal to abandon unused (30-feet wide) right-of-way along the north side <br />of Forest Lake Drive, from Rives Road for a distance of approximately 205 feet; <br /> <br />C. The Covington Company's petition seeking an amendment to Section V, Paragraph I, <br />of the City's Zoning Ordinance, to allow for the operation of electronic game- <br />rooms as a permitted use in C-1 Commercial districts; and <br /> <br />D. A proposal to revise the City's Land Use Map to assign a "Medium Density <br />Residential" designation to the Stafford G. Whittle Park area, off Oak Street. <br /> <br />Council unanimously approved an Area Plan for Aging Services for the year beginning <br /> <br />October 1, 1982, as presented by Mrs. June M. Gay, Executive Director of the Piedmont <br /> <br />Seniors of Virginia; and, acknowledged receipt of information, as discussed by Mrs. Gay <br /> <br />and as set forth in a letter (to Mayor Greene) from Mr. Joseph L. Fisher, Secretary of <br /> <br />Human Resources for the Commonwealth of Virginia, describing certain mandates contained <br /> <br />in Senate Bill No. 219 (enacted by the 1982 Session of the Virginia General Assembly) <br />
