<br />/1 <br />/.~., "t <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />MAY 25, 1982 <br /> <br />Martinsville Cablevision, by letter and in person informed Council that, barring any <br /> <br />unforeseen delay in delivery of new electronic equipment or unfavorable weather, a <br /> <br />switch-over to expanded cablevision service should begin for local subscribers in <br /> <br />July of 1982 and should be substantially completed by September, 1982. <br /> <br />Upon motion, duly seconded and unanimously carried, Council adopted the following <br /> <br />resolution which, among other things, authorizes the Martinsville-Henry County <br /> <br />Clean Community Commission to apply for 1982-83 grant funding of this agency by and <br /> <br />through the Virginia Department of Conservation & Economic Development, Division of <br /> <br />Litter Control: <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, recognizes the <br />existence of a litter problem within the boundaries of the City; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Virginia Litter Control Act of 1976 provides, through the <br />Virginia Department of Conservation and Economic Development's Division <br />of Litter Control, for the allocation of public funds in the form of <br />Grants for the purpose of enhancing local litter control programs; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, having reviewed and considered the Regulations and the Application <br />covering administration and use of said funds; now, therefore, <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, as <br />follows, that it <br /> <br />Hereby endorses and supports such a program for the City of <br />Martinsville; <br /> <br />Hereby expresses the intent to combine with Henry County in a mutually <br />agreed-upon and Cooperative Program, contingent upon the approval of <br />the Application by the Virginia Department of Conservation and Economic <br />Development, Division of Litter Control, and contingent upon receipt of <br />funds; <br /> <br />Hereby authorizes the Martinsville-Henry County Clean Community <br />Commission to plan and budget for a cooperative litter control program, <br />which Commission shall represent said Program for all localities named <br />in this resolution; <br /> <br />Further authorizes the Martinsville-Henry County Clean Community <br />Commission to apply on behalf of all of the above-named localities for <br />a Grant, and to be responsible for the administration, implementation, <br />and completion of the Program as it is described in the attached <br />Application Form LC-G-1; <br />
