<br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />APRIL 27, 1982 <br /> <br />seconded and unanimously carried, Council directed that such credits and/or refunds <br /> <br />be made. In addition, on a motion (duly seconded) that the current twenty-day penalty <br /> <br />deadlines be increased to twenty-two (22) days and that appropriate amendments to the <br /> <br />City's utility services Terms-and-Conditions regulations be prepared and introduced, <br /> <br />all members of Council voted in favor of the motion with the exception of Councilman <br /> <br />Reed, who supported a continuation of the present twenty-day provisions. Meanwhile, <br /> <br />- <br /> <br />Council directed that, by means of a special "sticker-notice" attached to each <br /> <br />customer's utility bills over the next two billing cycles, customers be notified <br /> <br />that payments for City utility service charges must be received by the City Treasurer <br /> <br />on or before such deadlines or the delayed-payment charges will be assessed. <br /> <br />In commemoration of the Martinsville-Henry County Rescue Squad's thirtieth anni- <br /> <br />versay (in 1982), Council unanimously adopted the following resolution which also <br /> <br />designated the month of Mayas "Rescue Squad Month": <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Martinsville-Henry County Rescue Squad is celebrating its <br />thirtieth anniversay during this year, 1982; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the members of this fine organization, during its thirty-year <br />existence, have contributed many thousands of hours of their time and <br />efforts, as well as have incurred and personally absorbed expenses in <br />connection therewith, toward rendering emergency life-support service <br />to the community and its citizens; now, therefore, <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, in <br />regular meeting assembled this 27th day of April, 1982, that not only <br />does it commend the Martinsville-Henry County Rescue Squad and its <br />members for this outstanding service over the years but also hereby <br />designates the month of Mayas "Rescue Squad Month". <br /> <br />Council unanimously called for a public hearing to be conducted by Council at its <br /> <br />forthcoming May 25th meeting on a petition, as filed by Dr. & Mrs. Norman M. <br /> <br />Warren (representing J. Curtis and Grace A. Vernon, owners), seeking the <br />
