<br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />JUNE 23, 1981 <br /> <br />.- <br /> <br />Pursuant to duly-advertised public notice, Council conducted a public hearing on <br /> <br />Martinsville Volunteer Fire Company's application for a special-use permit to <br /> <br />allow this organization to conduct its 1981 Firemen's Bazaar at Liberty Heights <br /> <br />Fair grounds during the period July 6th-July 11th as well as its subsequent <br /> <br />Firemen's Bazaars at said location during the years 1982-through-1985, subject to <br /> <br />prior annual review by Council. There being no objections registered by anvcitizen <br /> <br />and in acceptance of the Planning Commission's recommendation that the permit be <br /> <br />.--- <br /> <br />issued, subject to the conditions that (1) daily closing hours will be no later <br /> <br />then 12 midnight, (2) no gambling concessions will be allowed, and (3) that no <br /> <br />"girlie" shows bill be allowed, Council authorized the issuance of the requested <br /> <br />permit. <br /> <br />Also, after conducting a duly-advertised public hearing on a petition requesting <br /> <br />the rezoning to C-1A Commercial of those properties along both sides of Ellsworth <br /> <br />Street and Lot No. 18 on Brown Street (Mulberry Extension), all situated between <br /> <br />the presently-zoned CBD C-2 areas on Ellsworth Street and Mulberry Road Extension <br /> <br />and/or Brown Street, as filed by The First National Bank of Martinsville & Henry <br /> <br />County, et als, represented by Mr. Benjamin R. Gardner, Attorney at Law, and there <br /> <br />being no objections registered by any citizen and in acceptance of the Planning <br /> <br />- <br /> <br />Commission's recommendation that the petition be granted, Council effected said <br /> <br />requested rezoning through its adoption of the following ordinance amending the <br /> <br />City's Zoning Map (the record noting that Messrs. Greene, Cole and Oakes voted for <br /> <br />the adopting motion and Councilman Reed abstained because of personal interest <br /> <br />through his affiliation with The First National Bank): <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, in <br />regular meeting assembled, that the Zoning Map of the City of Martinsville <br />be--andis hereby--amended to reclassify from R-P Residential-Professional <br />zoning to a C-1A Commercial zoning the following properties: <br />
