TUESDAY

JUNE 9, 1981

however, as Mayor Greene pointed out in a trace-tabulation and chart illustration,

the increases in cost for water and sewer services over the past several years have

been minimal for the average household user whereas the burden of these increased

costs has fallen upon the City's large industrial and commercial users.

Upon motion, duly seconded and unanimously carried, Council adopted the following

ordinance amending the City's Zoning Map, pursuant to the Planning Commission's

recent recommendation, to effect an "M-1 Industrial" Zoning for the following

property owned or being acquired by Graves Supply Company:

BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia,
in regular meeting assembled, that the Zoning Map of the City of
Martinsville be--and is hereby--amended to reflect an ''M-1 Industrial"
zoning classification of those portions of Lots Nos. 6 and 7, situated
at 927 North Memorial Boulevard (Reference: Section 29 of City's Tax
Maps), which heretofore were zoned as "C-3 Commercial".

Mr. R. L. Fisher, of Industrial Insurance Management Corporation (risk management

consultants to the City), presented a tabulation of bids recently received,

pursuant to Council's recent authorization and invitation, for the City's property

and casualty insurance for 1981-82, in which tabulation the bid of Burch-Hodges-

Stone, Inc., of Martinsville, was adjudged the lowest complete bid submitted;

whereupon motion, duly seconded and unanimously carried and in acceptance of

Mr. Fisher's recommendation, Council accepted the bid of $58,761.00 submitted by

Burch-Hodges-Stone, Inc.

City Manager Edmonds called Council's attention to the fact that recently-enacted

State statutes (and/or amendments thereto) by the Virginia General Assembly, pertaining

to regulations governing dealers in precious metals and gems, now make it necessary

for Council to amend its recently-adotped ordinance and regulations governing such

dealers; whereupon motion, duly seconded and unanimously carried, Council placed on

.-- .'--'-~."'-"'."---'-- -~-~-----'-'---
