<br />,.; <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />MARCH 10, 1981 <br /> <br />.-- <br /> <br />Upon motion, duly seconded and unanimously carried, Council authorized the execution by <br /> <br />Mayor Greene of a (renewal) lease agreement with Mrs. Lucille A. Weaver for the (continued) <br /> <br />usage by the City of Mrs. Weaver's property situated on the north side of East Main Street for <br /> <br />the City's East Main Street Parking Lot, for a five-year term beginning June 1, 1981 and at an <br /> <br />annual rental of $6,600.00, payable $550.00 per month, plus any increase in real estate taxes <br /> <br />caused by a reassessment and resulting in an increased (tax) sum over and above that for fiscal <br /> <br />1975-76. <br /> <br />- <br /> <br />Upon motion, duly seconded and unanimously carried, Council authorized the execution by City <br /> <br />Manager Edmonds, on behalf of the City, of a "Software License Agreement" with Southern Data <br /> <br />Systems, Inc., of Raleigh, North Carolina, which agreement is parallel to that recently entered <br /> <br />into with this firm by the County of Henry, under which agreement or contract Southern Data <br /> <br />Systems will design and furnish to the City an application software system for its electronic <br /> <br />data processing system, replacing a similar system for which the City had contracted--and <br /> <br />recently cancelled a contract--with Cogebec Information, Inc., of Montreal, Canada. <br /> <br />In accordance with a legal opinion rendered by City Attorney Worthy, Council directed that the <br /> <br />recently-established compensation of $50.00 per diem for each member of the City's Board of <br /> <br />Equalization shall remain in effect until such time as Council changes this rate. <br /> <br />- <br /> <br />Upon reviewing a listing of members Council appoints to various boards and commissions and <br /> <br />noting that the terms of eight members (from the City) of the Martinsville-Henry County Clean <br /> <br />Community Commission will expire March 31, 1981, Council unanimously reappointed said eight <br /> <br />members to said Commission for two-year terms, as follows: <br /> <br />- <br /> <br />The Reverend R. T. Anderson; <br />Mr. J. Burness Frith; <br />*Mr. Roy E. Frith; <br />Mr. J. A. Gustin; <br /> <br />Mr. James W. Hopkins (Asst. to the City's <br />Public Works Director); <br />Mr . Herbert O. Hughes (City Rec. Director); <br />Mr. Walter W. Massie; <br />Mrs. Marjorie D. Midkiff. <br /> <br />= - - - - - - <br /> <br />= _. - - <br /> <br />* subsequently elected not to serve. <br />
