<br />') <br />(..J <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />JANUARY 13, 1981 <br /> <br />Also, pursuant to duly-advertised public notice, Council conducted a public hearing on <br /> <br />proposed amendments to Chapter 11 of the City Charter, pertaining to revised terms and <br /> <br />conditions governing the issuance of long-term bonds by the City. There being no <br /> <br />objections to these proposed amendments, and upon motion, duly seconded and unanimously <br /> <br />carried, Council adopted the following resolution approving the proposed amendments and <br /> <br />requesting the 1981 Virginia General Assembly to amend the City's Charter in accordance <br /> <br />therewith: <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia (the <br />"City") has determined that it is in the public interest to amend <br />the provisions of Chapter 11 of the City Charter relating to the <br />issuance of bonds of the City; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, in accordance with Section 15.1-835 of the Code of <br />Virginia of 1950, as amended, notice of a public hearing to <br />determine if the citizens of the City desire that the City <br />request the General Assembly to amend the City Charter was <br />published in the Martinsville Bulletin, a newspaper of general <br />circulation in the City, on December 30, 1980, which date was <br />more than ten days before such public hearing; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, such public hearing was held and the City Council now <br />desires to request that such amendments to the City Charter be <br />enacted in the 1981 Session of the General Assembly of the <br />Commonwealth of Virginia. <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MARTINSVILLE, <br />VIRGINIA: <br /> <br />1. The City Council hereby approves the proposed <br />amendments to Chapter 11 of the City Charter in <br />the form attached hereto as Exhibit A and requests <br />that the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of <br />Virginia amend the existing City Charter in <br />accordance therewith. <br />2. Two certified copies of this Resolution, the <br />publisher's affidavit of publication of the notice <br />of the public hearing on proposed amendments to <br />Chapter 11 of the City Charter and the proposed <br />amendments to the City Charter in the form attached <br />hereto as Exhibit A shall be transmitted to the <br />City's representatives in the General Assembly. <br />3. This Resolution shall take effect immediately. <br />
