<br />21 <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />NOVEMBER 22, 1983 <br /> <br />A. That the City of Martinsville retain for <br />right-of-way such portions of said alleyways <br />as will be required for future street <br />construction, viz., the Mulberry Road <br />Extension project and its companion Ellsworth <br />Street widening project; and <br /> <br />B. That a plat reflecting the authorized closing <br />and abandonment be filed with the Clerk of <br />Martinsville City Circuit Court. <br /> <br />Pursuant to duly-published public notice, Council conducted a public hearing on Leather- <br /> <br />wood Land Company's petition, previously approved by the Planning Commission, seeking the <br /> <br />modification of petitioner's Special-Use Permit whereby petitioner will be allowed to con- <br /> <br />struct a 39-unit apartment complex on its property on the north side of East Church Street, <br /> <br />in lieu of office buildings originally planned and permitted thereon. There being no <br /> <br />objections registered against this petition, Mayor Cole declared the public hearing closed; <br /> <br />whereupon motion, duly seconded and unanimously carried, Council ordered that said Special- <br /> <br />Use Permit be so modified. <br /> <br />Pursuant to duly-advertised public notice, Council conducted a public hearing on Graves <br /> <br />Supply Company's petition (previously approved by the Planning Commission) seeking the <br /> <br />rezoning of Lot No. 26 at 518 Harris Street from "R-6 Residential" to "M-1 Industrial". <br /> <br />There being no objections registered against this petition, Mayor Cole declared the public <br /> <br />hearing thereon closed; whereupon motion, duly seconded, and with Councilmember Severt <br /> <br />abstaining, all other members of Council voted to grant petitioner's request by adoption <br /> <br />of the following ordinance: <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia,in <br />regular meeting assembled this twenty-second day of November, 1983, that <br />the Zoning Map of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, be--and is hereby-- <br />amended to reflect "M-1 Industrial" zoning for Lot No. 26, at 518 Harris <br />Street, as shown on page 29, ("double-circle" 3), of the Tax Map of the <br />City of Martinsville. <br /> <br />BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED by said Council that this ordinance shall be <br />effective on and after November 23, 1983. <br />
