Numbers to placed at expense of owner or lessee. <br /> <br />When the proper number has been designated and assigned by the city in <br />accordance with the provisions of this article, it shall be the owner or <br />lessee's responsibility to obtain and affix the number, at his own expense. <br /> <br />Sec. 15-36. New and replacing numbers. <br /> <br />When a building permit is issued, the number of the lot will be deter- <br />mined and assigned by the building official, the same to be erected by <br />the owner in accordance with this article. When any number becomes de- <br />faced in any manner, the owner or lessee of the building shall have, at <br />his expense, the number replaced. <br /> <br />Sec. 15-37. Duty of director of public works to see that houses are <br />numbered; removing or destroying numbers. <br /> <br />It shall be the duty of the director of public works, acting under the <br />direction of the city manager, to see that each house in the city facing <br />on a street is numbered. No person shall willfully remove or destroy <br />the number on a building. <br /> <br />Sec. 15-38. Penalty for violation. <br /> <br />Any violation of this article shall be a Class 4 misdemeanor. <br /> <br />Commissioner of the Revenue J. Ronnie Minter appeared before Council and described pro- <br /> <br />cedures followed by his office, pursuant to State law, in the recently-completed biennial <br /> <br />reassessment of taxable properties within the City, noting that total taxable real estate <br /> <br />values, predicated upon recent market-value sales and other factors, have <br /> <br />increased by <br /> <br />16% over the 1980 assessed values and (that) the City's Board of Equalization is organized <br /> <br />and prepared to review individual reassessments with interested citizens and to take such <br /> <br />actions thereon as deemed appropriate, and to complete its work thereon for consideration <br /> <br />in the preparation of the City's 1983-84 City Budget. <br /> <br />By the following resolution, unanimously adopted, Council delegated to the Board of the <br /> <br />~ <br /> <br />City's Industrial Development Authority the responsibility for conducting public hearings <br /> <br />attendant to the issuance by the Authority of industrial development bonds, pursuant to <br />
