TUESDAY JANUARY 11, 1983 - adjust or replace such meter in accordance with Sec. 7.2, "Requests for Tests". In any instance of meter tampering which results in meter registering more than 2% slow, the City shall recalculate the monthly bills for a period of twelve months, except in those cases where a meter error can be documented for periods longer than twelve months. Additionally, the provisions of Sec. 8.2 "Disconnection for Fraud or Violation of the Rules" may be applied. - If the customer has been incorrectly billed because of errors other than meter accuracy, the electricity used during the entire period of incorrect billing will be estimated, based on all known revelant facts and the billing will be calculated based on the estimated use of the electri- city. Because of faulty title searches and/or lack of same when certain properties were acquired by the present owners, Council authorized and directed the waiving of penalties and interest accrued to the following delinquent property taxes for the following tax periods: (A) Second half of 1972 through first half of 1979, Lot No.4, 29 Henry Street, now owned by Henry County Investment Corporation; (B) Year 1970, 318 Granville Street, now owned by Mr. & Mrs. Fred Q. Keith; and (C) Lot No. 26R, 402 Second Street, year 1963, now owned by Mr. & Mrs. Vallie W. Hylton. Council unanimously adopted the following resolution authorizing City Attorney Worthy to apply to the United States Department of Justice for approval of the amendment to Section 2 of Chapter 11 of the City Charter, as enacted by the 1981 Session of the Virginia General Assembly: BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, in regular session held on January 11, 1983, that the City Attorney be, and he hereby is, authorized to apply to the U. S. Department of Justice for the approval of the amendment to Section 2 of Chapter 11 of the Martinsville City Charter enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia in 1981.
