4,

TUESDAY

OCTOBER 9, 1984

--

Dallas also alleged that certain other sections of the City receive "favored treatment"

(over the "West End" section of the City), both in the scheduling and quantity of im-

provements.

City Manager Edmonds reported that the City has received a refund of $12,183.60 from the

State Health Department (against 1983-84 expenses of the local regional health depart-

ment), being $6,183.60 in excess of the amount estimated to be received during 1984-85.

In accordance with the requirements of Section 2.1-344(a), subsections (1), (2), and (6),

of the CODE OF VIRGINIA (1950, and as amended), and upon motion (duly seconded and unani-

mously carried by a recorded vote), Council convened into an Executive Session for the

following purposes:

A. To consider disposing of certain City-owned real property;

B. To consider nominees for appointment to the Board of the West
Piedmont Planning District Commission, to succeed James W. Hare,
resigned, whose term would have ended June 30, 1985; and

C. To consider certain legal matters and to be briefed thereon by
counsel and consultants.

Upon reconvening into regular session, Council unanimously authorized City Manager Edmonds

to offer for sale, through an "up-set bid" procedure, the City's "Poorhouse Farm" property,

situated near the northeast corporate limits of the City (and being partially in Henry

County), with the minimum selling price set at $70,000.00.

Upon nomination, and there being no other nominations, Mr. Martin Kravitz (of 1238 Lanier

Road) was unanimously appointed as a citizen-representative to the Board of the West Pied-

mont Planning District Commission for the unexpired term of Mr. James W. Hare ending

June 30, 1985.
