<br />)'-'8 <br />"" ( <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />FEBRUARY 14, 1984 <br /> <br />whereby the City's Registrar's office, located in the Martinsvil1e <br />Municipal Building, 55 West Church Street, Martinsville, Virginia, <br />will be open from the hours of nine o'clock a.m. to five o'clock <br />p.m. on the following Saturdays: <br /> <br />February 25, 1984; <br />March 10, 1984; and <br />March 24, 1984. <br /> <br />Council concurred with Councilmember Severt in her request that City Manager Edmonds pre- <br /> <br />pare a listing, with pertinent data thereon, of capital improvements projects, including <br /> <br />those of the City School System, planned or anticipated over the next three-to-five years, <br /> <br />for presentation to the Council for study and for the establishing of priorities thereon. <br /> <br />Vice-Mayor Oakes announced that he will be attending, on February 22nd, a Virginia Municipal <br /> <br />League conference or committee meeting in Richmond, Virginia. <br /> <br />In acknowledging receipt and study of a financial report for the City's first six months <br /> <br />of its current budget year, as prepared by Mr. Richard D. Fitts, Finance Director, and <br /> <br />presented to Council at its regular meeting held January 24, 1984, members of Council, <br /> <br />individually and collectively, commended Mr. Fitts and his staff for the report's format <br /> <br />and clarity. <br /> <br />By memorandum report dated February 8, 1984, City Manager Edmonds apprised Council of <br /> <br />certain problems encountered by the City in implementing the proposed access road <br /> <br />construction to the Salem/Sellers Street area (via Lavinder Street), for which $45,000.00 <br /> <br />was appropriated in the current budget, being a part of "year-one" of the seven-year <br /> <br />street-and-sidewalk construction program approved by Council in February of 1983. Some <br /> <br />of these problems involve the need for more-than-anticipated grading and drainage work, <br /> <br />with an increased construction cost estimated at $100,000.00, as well as unexpected <br />
