,36,

TUESDAY, AUGUST 13, 1985

involved can jointly have the work done and pay for the disposal. It is

felt that it will be economically better for the different parties

involved to join together and have the work done, therefore, a committee

was formed to spearhead and manage the clean-up. This commitee has

recommended that Clean Sites, Inc. be authorized to dispose of this

waste. Upon motion by Councilman Oakes, seconded by Councilman Williams,

and unanimously carried, Council authorized City Manager George Brown to

sign an agreement with Clean Sites,

Inc.,

authorized an initial

expenditure of $100 for planning cost, and appropriated the City's share

of the cost, approximately $8,000, pending a public hearing being held on

August 27 to amend the Budget. Council also requested that City Attorney

David B. Worthy determine if legal action should be taken against SED,

Inc.

City Manager Brown and Rebecca C. Miller, Housing Services Supervisor,

presented the annual report of the Rental Assistance Program for year

ended June 30, 1985. The staff was commended for their good work. Mrs.

Miller stated that to continue the program past this year would require

funding from the City for the first time. There have not been any new

units added since last year, and there appear to be 250 families in the

City that would be eligible if housing was available.
