<br />- - <br /> <br />) 37 <br /> <br />TUESDAY, AUGUST 13, 1985 <br /> <br />- <br /> <br />City Manager Brown reported that we have received final approval from the <br /> <br />Virginia Highway and Transportation Board for our 6-year allocation of <br /> <br />highway funds beginning FY85-86 for the following projects: Mulberry Road <br /> <br />Extension, Spruce Street, Commonwealth Boulevard, and Memorial Boulevard/ <br /> <br />Fayette Street/Church Street intersection. <br /> <br />- <br /> <br />Upon motion by Councilman Oakes, seconded by Councilman Williams and <br /> <br />unanimously approved, Council designated Mayor Cole as Voting Delegate and <br /> <br />Vice-Mayor Severt as Alternate Voting Delegate on behalf of the Council <br /> <br />for the Virginia Municipal League Conference to be held in Roanoke, <br /> <br />September 22-24, 1985. <br /> <br />Upon <br /> <br />motion <br /> <br />Councilman <br /> <br />Oakes, seconded by Councilman Groden and <br /> <br />unanimously carried, Council appointed Mrs. Grace Scott to membership on <br /> <br />the Martinsville Transportation Safety Commission to fill the unexpired <br /> <br />term of Mrs. Mary Jane Cragun (who recently resigned), said term to expire <br /> <br />December 31, 1988. <br /> <br />Pursuant to the requirements of Section 2.1-344 of the CODE OF VIRGINIA <br /> <br /> <br />(1950, and as amended), and upon motion, duly seconded and unanimously <br /> <br /> <br />carried by a recorded vote, Council convened into an Executive Session for <br /> <br />the <br /> <br />purposes <br /> <br />of <br /> <br />considering a legal matter under the Council's <br /> <br />jurisdiction and a personnel matter. Upon reconvening into regular <br /> <br />session, Council took the following action: Upon motion by Councilman <br /> <br />Williams, seconded by Councilman Groden and unanimously carried, Council <br />
