<br />"l ')5 <br />J.N <br /> <br />TUESDAY, JULY 23, 1985 <br /> <br />Upon motion by Councilman Williams, seconded by Councilman Groden and <br /> <br />unanimously approved, Council authorized the City Manager to execute an <br /> <br />agreement between Paul and Christine Kilby and the City of Martinsville <br /> <br />establishing conditions for water service to an apartment building <br /> <br />situated in the County fronting Summit View Drive (State Route 917). It <br /> <br />was noted that this water service had been approved at Council's July 9 <br /> <br />meeting, subject to the agreement being prepared. <br /> <br />Upon motion by Vice-Mayor Severt, seconded by Councilman Williams and <br /> <br />unanimously approved, Council adopted a resolution for the City to <br /> <br />participate in the Virginia Community Certification Program as requested <br /> <br />by Mr. Lawrence W. Wuensch, Executive Director of the Martinsville-Henry <br /> <br />County Economic Development Corporation. <br /> <br />Mr. Wuensch stated that this <br /> <br />certification would cause Martinsville and Henry County to be recognized <br /> <br />as an area ready for development and growth by potential business people. <br /> <br />RES 0 L UTI 0 N <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the governing body of Martinsville, Virginia, is <br />interested in the economic well-being of its citizenry and the <br />community at-large; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the governing body is <br />efforts within the community to <br />promote economic development; and <br /> <br />prepared to support appropriate <br />become totally prepared to <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Virginia Division of Industrial Development is <br />offering a program which is specially designed to help Virginia <br />communities to become prepared for industrial and related <br />economic development; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, this program is entitled the Virginia Community <br />Certification Program; now, therefore, <br />
