<br />]21 <br /> <br />TUESDAY, JULY 9, 1985 <br /> <br />- <br /> <br />Upon motion by Vice-Mayor Severt, seconded by Councilman Oakes, and <br /> <br />unanimously accepted, the Council adopted Ordinance No. 85-8 to amend <br /> <br />Article II, Division 1, Section 22-24 of the City Code relating to minimum <br /> <br />liability insurance required for taxi cabs or for-hire vehicles, as <br /> <br />follows: <br /> <br />Ordinance No. 85-8 <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Martinsville, Virgi- <br />nia, that Chapter 22, Vehicles For Hire, Article II, Division 1, <br />Sec. 22-24 - Liability Insurance be amended, as follows: <br /> <br />No taxicab or for-hire car shall be operated within the <br />City unless the owner and the driver thereof are <br />protected by liability insurance, issued by a company <br />authorized to do business in this State, in the sum of <br />at least fifty thousand dollars ($50,000.00) for injury <br />to or death of anyone person, one hundred thousand <br />dollars ($100,000.00) for injury to or death of more <br />than one person in anyone accident and twenty-five <br />thousand dollars ($25,000.00) property damage. <br /> <br />BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED by said Council that, an emergency exist- <br />ing, this ordinance shall be in force on and after July 10, 1985. <br /> <br />Upon motion by Councilman Oakes, seconded by Councilman Williams, and <br /> <br />unanimously accepted, the Council agreed to donate $10,000 to the <br /> <br />Martinsville and Henry County War Memorial Committee for use in the <br /> <br />construction of a War Memorial in front of the Henry County Courthouse. <br /> <br />It was noted that there had been no adverse comments from the citizens, <br /> <br />only comments by those endorsing the funding of this project. <br /> <br />Upon motion by Councilman Oakes, seconded by Vice-Mayor Severt, and <br /> <br />unanimously carried, the Council agreed to adopt the report and recommend- <br /> <br />- <br /> <br />ations by the City Manager regarding the City's Classification and Pay <br />
