117

TUESDAY, JUNE 25, 1985

-

George W. Brown, City Manager, presented a report and recommendation to

upgrade the City's Classification/Pay Plan
that the present plan provides for

training/development, job performance/merit,

for its employees. He noted

2-1/2%

step increases for

and longevity, whereas the

proposed plan offers 3-1/2% step increases. He felt this would bring us

more in line with other localities thus offering the City a better

opportunity to attract and keep good employees.

Vice-Mayor Severt

requested that some figures be submitted comparing us with Henry County

and other cities of comparable size, thus the matter was carried over to

the next meeting of Council for further consideration.

City Manager Brown noted that the City's Zoning Map is updated from time

to time when changes are made and then it is recorded in the Circuit Court

Clerk's Office.

Though we have been updating the map in the Engineering

Office, it has been a while since it has been recorded in the Clerk's

Office. Upon motion by Vice-Mayor Severt, seconded by Councilman Groden,

and unanimously carried, Council authorized the Mayor to sign the official

Zoning Map so it can be recorded.

Upon motion by Councilman Oakes, seconded by Vice-Mayor Severt, and

unanimously carried, Council authorized the City Manager to execute a

Lease Agreement with Hooker Furniture Corporation covering the use of

English Field and the adjacent parking area by the Recreation Department

for a one-year period beginning July 1, 1985, at a cost of $706.80, which

is the amount of the taxes on said property.
