<br />92 <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />MAY 14, 1985 <br /> <br />General Assembly, to be considered at the next meeting for adoption. <br /> <br />There was concern expressed that we did not yet have a copy of the <br /> <br />new laws, but we will try to obtain them as soon as possible. <br /> <br />Upon motion by Councilman Oakes, seconded by Councilman Williams, <br /> <br />Council unanimously approved, on first reading, Ordinance No. 85-6 <br /> <br />amending Article IV of the City's Terms and Conditions of Electric <br /> <br />and Water and Sewer Services related to paying interest (5.25%) on <br /> <br />deposits for utility services, to be considered at the next meeting <br /> <br />for adoption. <br /> <br />Upon motion by Councilman Oakes, seconded by Councilman Groden, <br /> <br />Council unanimously supported the Clearinghouse Review by the West <br /> <br />Piedmont Planning District Commission of an application by the <br /> <br />Virginia Department of Highways & Transportation for federal funds <br /> <br />for Highway Planning & Research Work Program for FY86. <br /> <br />Upon motion by Councilman Groden, seconded by Councilman Oakes, <br /> <br />Council unanimously adopted an amended Resolution reorganizing and <br /> <br />expanding <br /> <br />the Central Business District Commission, <br /> <br />including <br /> <br />changing the name of the Commission to the Commercial Development <br /> <br />Commission, to be effective July 1, 1985. <br /> <br />Upon motion by Councilman Groden, seconded by Councilman Oakes, <br /> <br />Council unanimously voted to table until the next meeting the <br /> <br />Martinsville Transportation ,Safety Commission's recommendation that <br /> <br />their by-laws be amended to provide for representation by members of <br /> <br />the student body at Martinsville High School, pending further study <br /> <br />by the Commission of Section 6.1 as to a "quorum". <br />
