<br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />MAY 14, 1985 <br /> <br />Upon motion by Councilman Oakes, seconded by Councilman Groden and <br /> <br />unanimously carried, Council authorized the setting of a public <br /> <br />hearing on June 11, 1985, at the request of Councilman Oakes for <br /> <br />citizens interested in being present at that time, on a request by <br /> <br />Allen Adams of Habco Construction for a Special Use Permit for a <br /> <br />63-unit apartment development at the end of Wood and Crescent <br /> <br />Streets. <br /> <br />Upon motion by Councilman Williams, seconded by Councilman Oakes and <br /> <br />unanimously carried, Council authorized the setting of a public <br /> <br />hearing on May 28, 1985, on a request by the Patrick Henry Drug & <br /> <br />Alcohol Council to rezone 817 Starling Avenue from "R-6 Residential" <br /> <br />to "P-2 Professional". <br /> <br />Pursuant to duly-published public notice, Council conducted a public <br /> <br />hearing for the purpose of amending the City of Martinsville 1984-85 <br /> <br />Budget for the appropriation of $20,000 from General Fund Surplus for <br /> <br />repairs and maintenance of the former Joseph Martin School building, <br /> <br />currently being used as the Virginia Museum of Natural History. <br /> <br />There being no one present wishing to speak, motion was made by <br /> <br />Councilman Oakes, seconded by Councilman Williams and unanimously <br /> <br />accepted to amend the 1984-85 Budget for this expenditure. <br /> <br />Upon motion by Councilman Groden, seconded by Councilman Williams, <br /> <br />Council unanimously approved, on first reading, Ordinance No. 85-7 <br /> <br />amending Article VI, Section 12-140 of the City Code relating to <br /> <br />motor vehicles and driving under the influence laws passed by the <br /> <br />91 <br />
