Hankins (Attorney at Law), Treasurer. <br /> <br />Also scheduled to appear, in connection with budget requests, were representatives <br /> <br />of the City's Commonwealth's Attorney's office, the Martinsville-Henry County Res- <br /> <br />cue Squad, and the Blue Ridge Regional Library; however, as to the Regional Library, <br /> <br />Council rescheduled consideration of that agency's budget request to Monday, April <br /> <br />29, 1985, at 2:00 P.M., at which meeting the Council will consider with the City <br /> <br />School Board the School Board's 1985-86 budget request. <br /> <br />With regard to the West Piedmont Planning District Commission's request, its Exe- <br /> <br />cutive Director (Mr. Henne) informed Council that federal aid is no longer avail- <br /> <br />able to the Commission and, that to offset a budget deficit of $50,000.00, the Com- <br /> <br />mission is requesting financial support in the form of a 10~~ increase (to 38~) per <br /> <br />capita from all its member jurisdictions. Meanwhile, Council commended the Commis- <br /> <br />sion Staff for its significant role in assisting the City in recently updating the <br /> <br />City's Comprehensive Plan. <br /> <br />With regard to the Blue Ridge Airport Authority's request, additional information <br /> <br />as to the usage of the airport (business vs. pleasure) is to be provided members <br /> <br />of Council. <br /> <br />As to the J&DR's Probation Services, Mr. Reed informed Council that the W. W. Moore <br /> <br />Juvenile Detention Home (in Danville, Virginia), to which the City sends certain <br /> <br />juveniles for custodial purposes, is increasing its per diem rate from $15.00 to <br /> <br />$19.00. <br />
