<br />(: I) <br />'..,I ~,,.; <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />MARCH 26, 1985 <br /> <br />question of supervision for study and monitoring. <br /> <br />Pursuant to the request from Mrs. Nancy N. Henderson, Chairman of the Martinsville- <br /> <br />Henry County Clean Community Commission, Council unanimously adopted the following <br /> <br />resolution designating the forthcoming week of April 14th-20th as CLEAN UP-FIX UP- <br /> <br />PAINT UP WEEK in Martinsville: <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Virginia is blessed with a cherished heritage of rich <br />natural beauty which we must maintain by keeping it free of <br />unsightly litter; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, in a cooperative effort between Keep Virginia Beauti- <br />ful and the State Division of Litter Control, Virginia stands <br />foremost in the nation in national recognition for its <br />achievements in litter control; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Martinsville-Henry County Clean Community Commis- <br />sion joins in this effort throughout the City of Martinsville <br />and Henry County to achieve litter control; now, therefore, <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Martinsville, <br />Virginia, that the period of April 14-20, 1985, just prior to <br />Historic Garden Week, be designated CLEAN UP, FIX UP, PAINT UP <br />WEEK in the City of Martinsville; and <br /> <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Council urges all citizens, <br />businesses, industries and organizations to unite in an inten- <br />sified effort to combat littering during this period in order <br />that we may have a cleaner, more beautiful community. <br /> <br />Council acknowledged receipt of the following reports: <br /> <br />1. From Mr. Frederick H. Ritts, Attorney at Law and Counsel to <br />the Virginia "Apco Cities", on the background and status of <br />SEPA (Southeastern Power Administration) Hydropower <br />Allocation; <br /> <br />2. From the Martinsville City Fire Department in the form of <br />its annual report, being for 1984; and <br /> <br />3. From the Martinsville Volunteer Fire Company, Inc., in the <br />form of its annual report, being for 1984. <br /> <br />In accordance with the provisions of subsections (a)(l) and (a)(6) of Section <br /> <br />2.1-344 of the CODE OF VIRGINIA (1950, and as amended), and upon motion, duly <br />
